Dell-Inspiron 17 7000, RAM 16Gb, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB DDR5 + Ubuntu12.04.4

Hi,

I just purchased Dell-Inspiron 17 7000, i7, RAM 16Gb, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB DDR5 and want to install Ubuntu 12.04.4 as a dual boot with window 8.1.

Before to install Ubuntu, is their any body who installed Ubuntu-12 on this machine and what was his experience. What about the GPU, does it work? is their any simple flow of Ubuntu installation for this machine?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks kareempharmacist,

I did installed 14.04 and its working fine!

But Im facing a new problem!
When I shutdown my system while using Ubuntu 14.04 it sent me back to Grub loader to select the operating system to login.
This cycle continues if I login again Ubuntu but Im successfully shutdown my system if i Select window from the Grub menu and then
select the shutdown option.

do you have any idea how can i properly shutdown my system from Ubuntu?

:)

Again thanks for you suggest!

Sorry for responding late..Ubuntu 14.04.1 is out now which has many bug fixes and an updated kernel which may solve your problem.I don't recommend updating or upgrading Ubuntu Because it may be broken after the update or it may not even boot.Good Luck

After searching the internet it was a bug in the os
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...y/+bug/1288161
sure it is fixed with 14.04.1
