Dell D800 XP and Gentoo dual boot

I plan to dual boot my dell latitude d800 with gentoo linux and winXP. my internal hdd is 40 gig, and have an external 120 gig hdd. Both drives are currently NTFS formatted, and the 120 is almost completely full, though it will be cleaned shortly.

Questions:
---Suggested partition resizes for xp and gentoo
---Processor is a pentium M class, which i believe is based off the P4, but not 100% sure. should i be using the pentium 4 x86 architecture for the install? if not, which should i be using?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Currently:
---Win XP Prof
---Pentium-M 1.6GHz
---512 DDR
---40GB internal, 120GB ex

I have a centrino laptop (600m) and the pent 4 discs work fine. I think thats what you are supposed to use, although there was/is some arguing that maybe the pent 3 is a closer relative.

I don't have an answer about partition sizes. That always seems more like a personal preference more than anything else.
