Dell D/Port Replicator

I am using a Dell Latitude D400 with SuSE 9.3 conneced to my home network via a D/Port Replicator from Dell.
Most things are working well.
Except sound. Using the connection on the D/Port I get no sound. Using the headphone connector at the laptop, volume is not adjusted via volume slider but via headphone slider.
That makes me angry becaus I cannot use my keyboard keys.

Has anyone experiace with Dell D/Port ?
Thanks for every answer.

Sorry--I've found no solution, either. I can empathize, though. I'm having the same problem with my port replicator with my D400 under Ubuntu.

thanks for your reply what meens there are people reading my question.
I've changed the version of suse to 10.1.
Nothing has proceeded with the D/Port.
The issue is still valid.

best regards

Can't say i have any ideas on getting sound out of the port replicator(if you haven't already, maybe could try playing around with the various channels, or maybe it detects as a new sound card...sorry,no experience with linux n such devices). As for volume of the headphones being controlled by the headphone slider instead of the master, that's pretty logical, no? Master (in my experience) controls the builtin speakers for the laptop. This provides a finer grained control than most windows drivers do. True, it can be irritating not being able to use the keyboard to control headphone volume, but you can easily work around this by setting up key bindings.
