dell c800 laptop

hello there I want to install linux on my laptop I am use to slackware 9.0 on my desktop, I went to google and look up which will be the best linux distro will fit. and came up with debain.

I am not familar with debain I want to ask some one how many cds i have to download, I went to debain website it was 7 cds

if youre new to linux dont start with debian. head over to www.linuxiso.org and download mandrake 10 or fedora core 2. both are very easy to start out with. if you have broadband just download the 3 .ISO's for either, burn the image files and boot with the first cd of choice.

debian is tough if youre just starting out. btw, most linux distros worked fine on my dell lattitude C600 if that helps ya out any.

Hey i got fedora core 2 on my laptop it works great, I heard many people say it hard to install fedora on laptop, But I went to know what is my x window name,
