I have the 2100 centrino wireless card, it works perfectly for me. There is no need to get another card, you need to go to http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net and install this driver.

try having the 10/100 baset be loaded manually if needed. Also check that when you installed suse that you didn't install firmware for other cards or weird stuff that may mess with it.

Well you would probably find that using Yast is the easiest way. Go into that and look through the firmware drivers and check only the firmware for the ipw2100 not any others. If they are installed take them off. Also, when you set up the network cards have the ethernet card start up manually i.e. you will have to use ifup eth* to turn it on when/if you need it.

I installed my Dell D800, same wifi card, and the YaST Online Update after install loaded the drivers for it and it worked right off.
