Debian on a COMPAQ Presario CQ57

i recently purchased a Compaq Presario CQ57 and i am planning on using debian on it as an operating system but things are proving to be harder than anticipated. i can't get the wireless card working very easily, usually it's just installing a debian package and rebooting then it works but this time it's different. second is the sound apparently alsa base doesn't work with it's sound card so i have to go through alot just to get that straitened out but is there an easier way to make this all work because i don't like windows anymore and i always wanted to use debian on a laptop

to narrow down the search for my specs the edition of presario i have is
CQ57-229WM

I would think that Debian Stable is not a good choice for such new hardware, try it with testing. It also would be good to know which wireless device is built into that laptop. Please post the output of
