Datawind Ubisurfer

I've just bought a Datawind Ubisurfer (its best not to ask why), and i'm having problems trying to cross compile binaries for it.
I've followed the arm-linux-gcc toolchain help at
and the programs compile, but whenever I copy one to the Ubisurfer and try to execute it I get a message such as:

# ./testbin
./testbin: not found

I vaguely remember seeing the same message (while the file was obviously there) many years ago, during my past meddling but I can't remember the cause.

More info: compiling under Ubuntu 8.04 (on a Dell Latitude X330).
Uname -a from the Ubisurfer:

Linux ubisurfer2 #423 Tue Nov 17 15:28:50 EST 2009 armv5tejl unknown

and /proc/cpuinfo (if its any help):

Processor : ARM926EJ-S rev 5 (v5l)

Any ideas?
