Crystal Audio Inspiron 8200 HELP!!


ok im a newb

i have mandrake 9.2 on this here laptop and using KDE
the sound works until 2 sounds play at the same time.... then it stops playing sound and i have to reboot to get it back

for my laptop this is what my card is listed as using in windows: Crystal CS4205 WDM Driver

right now i cannot find drivers for this sucker anywhere
i used the i810_audio driver through hardrake
it works until 2 sounds play at the same time

like in gaim
if i send a msg and someone signs of at the same time the sound stops working until i reboot

This is putting a damper on my linux experience and i gotta say linux is decent
so any help would be appreciated
im an advanced computer savy person i would say its just that all this linux is new too me

Check "dmesg" see what's listed there and post back.

There are a lot of fights that can be had between KDE's aRts sound server and a sound card driver. If you turn off aRts in KDE's control panel (somewhere), these problems tend to go away.
