Core 4 :: Dell D600 :: No Audio ??

I have tried everything but have had no luck getting my AC'97, onboard card to produce any output. Per some suggestions, I have ensured the following are correct:

ALSA Mixer :: External Amp :: Checked
ALSA Mixer :: Nothing Muted that would prevent audio
[root@L799 ~]# lspci | grep audio
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01)

I get no errors while trying to play mp3's, wav's, ogg's, etc. Just no output through the speakers or mic jack. My kernel is 2.6.12-1.1447_FC4 i686.

The only thing that I am not too sure about is my /etc/modprobe.conf. Just curious if anybody can translate this for me:

[root@L799 ~]# cat /etc/modprobe.conf | grep snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-intel8x0 index=0
remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0

Any help is appreciated. This should be something simple but I am completely lost...

HI,

I had got simmilar problem.

This is how I fixed it. Run Audio Control application. In the prefferences thick on something like "external amplifier" this will probably be off. Turn it on and restart laptop. This should help.

Please let me know if that fixed the problem.

All the best;

Worked for me. Not sure what the "Audio Control" app is, but Volume Control had an external amplifier setting under preferences.
