configuring xorg.conf to work on a dell latitude CPx

Does someone know how to configure xorg.conf so I can get xorg working on my dell latitude CPx. I would also like to know which linux version should be best for my system. It's a dell latitude CPx H500GT with a 500MHz Pentium processor, 128MB of RAM and a HD of only 5.7GB. I currently am thinking about Slackware 10.2, Archlinux(mostly gives problem about some kind of module missing) or VectorLinux (installation allways block when trying to install this one).

Here's a guide for Mandrake and here's one for Debian. They both seem slightly dated, but you might be able to translate a bit.

In my limited experience, try using the VESA driver if autodetection doesn't work at install.

Try the intel drivers (i810), and if that fails, as mentioned above, go back to vesa. Wont be good performance from that, though.

I solved the problem by loading a Live CD. The Live CD took "ati" as driver, so I copied everything that was important from /etc/X11/xorg.conf and installed the latest driver, so now everything works fine.
