Configuring Linux SuSu 9.0 pro

hello all,

I have a Presario 2700 with XP Home on it and I recently installed SuSe 9.0 Pro on it as well. I have it set up to dual boot, the problem is that when I'm on the desktop (KDE) it will go into a black screen and it won't come out of it. The only I can get it off that screen is to reboot the computer.

I also can't play any music (wma, mp3, ect. and it doesnt recognize my cd-rom)

anyone, help.

thx.

I think it goes into sleep.
have you tried just pressing the power button?
Have you got nvidia GeForce cards?

I have problems with mine, laptop and desktop.
when you get the boot screen type
acpi=off
this may help.
let me know.

Use the SuSe support. We need to let them know about it.
I already have but no satisfactory answers yet.

I turned off APM on my laptop BIOS and have had no problems since.
But of course I now have no power management.
But we are linux, we can see when the battery light flashes!

I'm not sure I was clear.
Try:
on the grub boot menu screen, type acpi=off before the boot.
maybe try with acpi or APM turned off in the BIOS?
