configure-thinkpad

hi. the standard rpm "configure-thinkpad" can't work because
neither /dev/thinkpad/thinkpad or /dev/thinkpad exists
how can i get them there and make it work?
I have mdk 10.1 powerpack and 2.6.10 kernel with IBM extras.
