configure an IBM T22

Hi, this is my first time playing with linux, and I installed slackware 9.1 on an IBM T22 laptop. It worked pretty well, but then I upgraded to the 2.6 kernel. Upon doing this, I can't get my network card or sound card to work anymore. Seeing how I have not done this before, I have no idea where to even start. I tried selecting different options in the kernel config, but none of them worked. Thanks

if things like the sound card and network card dont load after a recompile, prolly (1) you didnt include drivers or (2) the drivers are modules, and need to be loaded. try lsmod and see if it lists the drivers needed (assuming you went with modules)

also make sure you included asla or oss (whichever you use)

is your network card pcmcia by any chance? i had a problem on my r40 b/c i forgot to include all the necessary pcmcia drivers...

everything on the laptop is integrated. How do I know what driver to use? When I configured the kernel, it did not list my hardware or any drivers made by the same company. The soundcard is a Crystal Semiconductor CS4624/CS4297a and the networks just says integrated 10/100 NIC. thanks!

Hey, Thanks a lot for the post!!!

This is exacly the setup that I am going to be installing tomorrow

Of course I probably won't dive into compiling the kernel and all that

We'll see how it goes. Any tips on the install or should I just select "Install ALL" and let'er rip?? LMAO
