Unhappy Compaq Presario M2000 HW Problems, Network, audio and USB mouse Undetect

Hi guys,
Got me a compaq presario M2215AP a month ago, tried to have FC4 going without luck, same deal with SUSE9.3, looks like a redhat derivatives problem (zero problems with live Knoppix)

My laptop comes with on-board, realtek network adapter, during installation HW detection apparently detected it well. Later on, when I brought eth0 up (using a static IP address) it shows a strange error msg (SIOCSIFLAGS invalid parameter).

The audio card is buggy too, when I checked HW profiler it showed TWO audio adapters detected both struggling to use the same IRQ (??)

Morevoer, the USB mouse, a pretty standard piece of equipment, doesnt work at all. I guess, maybe my BIOS or the undetected intel chipset are causing the problem???, got no clue really.

If I could have the network going that would be alot for me. Any help would be appreciatted.

thanx

G.

my laptop is Compaq M2241AP and Slackware & Zenwalk are working great on it. Tried Debian, but no luck with screen resolution... stuck with 800X600... probably Xfree86 problems/bug

Tried before Debian variants Ubuntu and Knoppix on my COMPAQ2215AP. They both ran smoothly, still I recall I had to tweak Xorg config, use "vesa" driver instead of "i810" in order to get my video working full resolution.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck with Fedora and SUSE (really would like to try XEN) so far no solution at sight.
