Compaq presario 700 overheating when redhat 9.0 is installed (722us)
 

well, I installed Red Hat 9.0 and after like 30 seconds it is so hot it just turned off... I'm getting upset at it because I'm stuck with Windows xp... I bet its my laptop but I was wondering if anyone else ran into the problem. Thanks so much.

my presario 1508 was overheating aswell untill i pulled it apart and found a big chunk of fluff partially blocking the extraction fan duct. pulled it out and she now stays much cooler and doesnt oveheat.

youre problem may be something else. bios settings perhaps? dead fan? ive never had a problem with slackware or mandrake causing any problems with cooling on my presario. it may have something to do with youre rh install but i would tend to doubt it...
