Compaq Presario 1200
 

Not sure whether this should be here or in H/W but none the less. I have a Compaq Presario 1200 and I cant get the screen resolution more than 800x600 which quite frankly is a pain in the arse! Anyone had the same problem or suggestions on how to fix it?

In xf86config there will be a line with the resolutions - "800x600" and "640x480", open this file as root in a text editor and add the extra resolutions you need in front of the resolutions that are there.

Your line should now read something like "1024x780" "800x600" "640x480".

Save the file and restart X.

I"M running slackware on a Compaq 1200 using 800x 600
iif you want better resolution:
Go to pkgtool and reconfigure LILO
Be advised:
Using higher resolutions will
slow.......your........system.........down.............
