compaq nx9010 & RH9 installation problem
My laptop is a compaq nx9010 and when I boot from CD to install RED HAT 9 or RED HAT 8 the installation hangs on loading ohci1934 driver. I've tried with all the boot up parameters but the installation continues hanging on for the reason I told. Could anybody help me?

I have installed RH9 on a NX9005 (I don't know precise differences).
The only thing I had to do before installation was disable legacy USB support in BIOS. (this hung when first using keyboard in installation program). The 1394 chip is correctly identified in the boot messages (I haven't actually used it yet) Matt |
thank you for your answer matt, but the problem is still there, the installation program hangs on loading the firewire driver. Thank you again matt
Jose P.D. : my RH9 distro works fine in my desktop PC |
My best guess, as it seems to be the leading cause of Laptop install problems, is ACPI. Advanced configurable.... you get the idea. Its been out for a couple years, linux supports it, but for some reason redhat still doesnt try using it at boot.
I suggest trying an install of Suse 8.2, as acpi is enabled from the very start, and this usualy clears up peoples messes nicely :) |
I have successfully installed RH9 on this laptop but had to do major stuff in order to get things running and working:
