Compaq Armada V300 'missing operating system' on startup

I have a Compaq Armada V300 laptop PC.
Tried to install Fedora Core 2 on it. It seems that Linux is installed ok, but
on bootup, after the memorycheck and BIOS startup, it just says 'missing operating
system' in the upper left side of the screen.

I have reinstalling the bootloader invarious ways, but cannot get past this problem.
Anyone who have solved similar problem before, or otherwise with ideas or suggestions ?

Dunno if you still need help, but I just met this problem yesterday, after all this bootable floppies, sys c:, fdisk,

I tried installing only a few packages, then the GRUB worked perfectly afterwards...! :-)
To me it looks like the GRUB just wasn't installed properly when I tried a normal desktop type installation. With only 56 MB ram, maybe the machine got "tired"...
