Compaq Armada E500 WinModem/SUSE
Hi all,
I know this is a common problem judging from how many posts I have read to try to resolve this but this situation seems rather 'special'.I am posting here as a last resort if anyone can help please do is most appreciated.
Anyways, I have a Compaq Armada E500 laptop and have recently installed Suse Linux 9.1 Personal. I installed the ltmodem latest build rpm using Yast(which simplifies things). However, the Linux kernel is not detecting or interfacing with the modem. I ran modem scan from linmodems.org and it is supported(a Lucent WinModem chipset clone). However, the modem is built into the Intel Pro 100 ethernet interface and has an IRQ of 11. I tried using all of the device names ie LT0,ttyS1-3 etc and the system will still not even get an 'OK' from an 'ATZ' string.
Please help I am at my wits end and really want to get it working. I am connecting to a broadband connection through the network card currently(non DHCP) via ICS on a Windows machine. But I need to use the modem after hours so please help if you can anybody.
Thanks
