Command line battery monitor?
 

Is there a way I can access how much battery has been used up (or even better, how much is left at current useage levels) through the command line? More specifically, in my /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state I get stuff like:

present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: discharging
present rate: 16789 mW
remaining capacity: 24660 mWh
present voltage: 11193 mV

Can I glean the information from that? Is it a function of remaining capacity and present rate? Thanks.

yes you can, if you have the acpi package installed (should be in /usr/bin) you can just type in acpi at the command prompt, if you use the -V parameter it'll give you the temperature too. good stuff

Hmm....I don't actually have that program. Where would I get it? I do have acpid installed and I did all the requisite stuff in the kernel. Thanks

acpi should be available in the mandrake CDs (was in 9.1).
