Smile centrinos M's and others

I'm confused. I see all over the place that Intel won't provide linux support for centrino processors.

Does this mean one with centrino processor won't work or won't work
with a separate wireless card or is a waste of money ?

What does M mean.

What does Mobile Pentium mean ?

I'm confused here about what the different kinds of processor are and
what I need to look for in a linux laptop. I do use wireless (not so
much when away from pwer supply of course) and do need
decent battery life.

What do need to get (select from Mobile, Pentium, M, Celeron
and please explain what these mean and the implications of each are).

Hello,

What I can tell you is that for a laptop, you need a "mobile" processor. a mobile processor means that your proc won't run at 100% of its possibilities everytime for energy purposes. There are maybe other peculiarities, but I think it's the main.
About Centrino... Intel = for wireless. With their dedicated 802.11 chipset, they were the worst (or at least one of the worst). So I don't think they improve their wireless chipset by integrated it with their processor...
