cant get my ati mobility radeon 9600 pro to work in debian

I just bought a new dell inspiron 8600 and it got the ati mobility radeon 9600 pro, but it seems that i cant get any of the drivers to work.

So far i have tried those drivers from ATI but it still makes no difference.

With the fglrx-* drivers from ati i could only get this strange white screen.

Please let me know if anyone have any experience with this problem.

you need to provide more details

what steps did you take to set it up?
kernel version?
X version?

anything you can think of can't hurt - you have 25000 characters to work with in linuxquestions.org.

i am not sure if i can help you or not as i am a bit of a newbie myself, but i may be able to as i only just installed my radeon 9600se the other day. mind you, i have not got 3d acceleration working yet - i am working on that.
