Cannot install Lubuntu on a Packard Bell dot s netbook
Good day everyone! First of all sorry if I make grammar or spelling mistakes. English is not my first language.
I am having some trouble when trying to install Lubuntu from an usb in a netbook Packard Bell dot s. I created the bootable USB but when I put it in the netbook and start it I just get a black screen with a blinking white line. It will not move from there. Also, the light of the usb is on so it looks like it is working or something.
I would be very grateful if you could help me, please. Thank you a lot!
Did you do an md5 checksum on the iso file of Lubuntu before putting it on the usb to verify the download?
What software or method did you use to put it on the flash drive to make it bootable?
If it doesn't boot on that particular computer, do you have another computer you can try to boot on to eliminate that as a possible problem?
Thank you for you response!
If I press Esc, a whistle sounds. F8 does not do anything.
And if you mean before the black screen, it does not do anything neither.

EDIT: I do not know what is an md5 checksum, if you could explain I would be grateful. I do not remember what software I used, which one should I use?
And sadly, I do not have another computer that I can modify freely now. Thanks!
As "yancek" mentioned, have you checked to make sure the USB is bootable? Also, can you get into the BIOS and see if there is an option to boot from USB?
There is an option to boot from USB, it's already the first on the list. Thank you!
How can i check that / which software should I use to create the bootable USB?
I've got Windows on my secondary machine (the one I do not want to format). Is there any reliable tool for Windows or should I create a virtual box or something?
I created a new USB with the tool that was in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...n/FromUSBStick this link, and still got the same result. Black screen with tilting white line hyphen, blinking light on USB like if it was working, whistle whenever I press a key. Any more advice? I'm desperate. Thanks a lot.
Ya know, I really don't know. You might want to redownload Lubuntu and try to make the USB bootable again. If not check to see if there is an EFI setting in the BIOS. If not, I'm really out of ideas.
BIOS-style booting from MBR-partitioned disks is commonly called BIOS-MBR, regardless of it being performed on UEFI or legacy BIOS-based systems. Furthermore, booting legacy BIOS-based systems from GPT disks is also possible, and such a boot scheme is commonly called BIOS-GPT.
It does not work, anything. I'll copy what I see in the BIOS just in case I'm missing something:
