Question cannot access internet on Asus 900HA netbook

I have recently bought an Asus 900HAeee notebook with windows xp installed on the"C" drive. I can access the internet with no problems.
I have downloaded Ubuntu onto the "D" drive and it works perfectly well except I cannot access the net from it
I have followed the instructions, i.e
Click on System/Administration/Network Connections/Wireless/Add. Where do I go next??
