Can you use an ipod with the Eee PC computer??

We bought this nifty Eee PC for a foreign exchange student from Africa as we thought it would meet his needs. Then for Christmas my boys got ipods and he really wanted one too. Is there any way to make the ipod get songs off of itunes from his eee pc?? If not, and we have to sell this thing on ebay, is there any mp3 player that would work with his eee pc???

Well...why not? All you need is an open USB port on the netbook.

Modern iPods have some problems with linux (though they are generally solvable - my iTouch 32GB works fine with Amarok and kubuntu 8.10, although it had to be "jailbroken" first, there was quite a lot of hurdle-jumping to make it all work, and I had better not, ever, let it re-connect to iTunes. Meanwhile I can easily drag & drop mp3s from my collection to my iTouch over wireless ssh).

You may have some problems with the stock version of xandros on the eee, but check out these links first:

Simpler music players (that just appear as a USB HDD) are less likely to cause you problems.

Good luck & Welcome to LQ!

I have a 4GB Sandisk Fuze, and I have no problems transferring MP3s off my Ubuntu laptop or my Asus EeePC 4G loaded with either Eeebuntu 1.0 or Fluxflux-eee. In fact, I have connected my 250GB Western Digital external hard drive to one USB port, and the Fuze to the other, using the EeePC as a pass-through to control the transfer of music from drive to MP3 device.

What I needed to do was probably different from what you need to do (Apple have "upgraded" their software since).
I suggest you use your favourite search-engine to search for jailbreak iphone and then follow the links.
You'll probably have to use win to jailbreak your phone, thereafter you can use it with linux.

Hi again,

It took a little long because i dont have ubuntu, so i had to use another pc.
I wish i could do the same with my Zen X-FI, it has wifi but its useless!

However, thanks a lot.
