Can connect my toshiba pocketpc with synce--but cannot initilize pstatus--what gives?

I followed the directions from synce and everything appears to run fine.

i even have my toshiba (e310) saying it IS connected with the Sync and Stop buttoms open under active sync on my PDA.

but when i run pstatus i get

pstatus: Unable to initialize RAPI: An unspecified failure has occurred

which according to synce's site it means i have done something wrong--but i have followed the steps on mandriva2005 with kernel 2.6.11. the device is currently connected and i'd like to use it, but do not know where to go from here. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

That may actually be a problem with Evolution, if that is what you are using, I have read on many boards that contacts are a problem with Synce
