Can't sync Palm Zire with J-Pilot

I'm not able to sync my Palm Zire with J-Pilot. I also can't seem to run "install-user" from the pilot-link package. It always times out.

My /dev/pilot is set to /dev/ttyUSB1 (I also tried ttyUSB0, with no effect).

lsusb says this if my Zire is connected:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
If I do a sync with J-Pilot I get:
Syncing on device /dev/pilot
Press the HotSync button now
pi_bind Invalid argument
Check your serial port and settings
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND

Configure Jpilot to connect to /dev/ttyUSB1 not /dev/pilot
if thats not possible. then try making a symbolic link from /dev/ttyUSB1 to /dev/pilot.

Sorry, that didn't work.

I guess it has something to do with my motherbord (nForce chipset). Normally it should list my USB devices if I type "lsusb". Now I don't see anything!

Or am I missing something?
