Can't Rotate Display on Laptop
Hope someone can please advise....
Tried running LM 19.1 MATE on my little One Netbook One Mix Yoga 2 (7" display) laptop. Due to display panel company uses (by Goodix, guessing it's really meant for a tablet), it boots up in portrait orientation instead of landscape orientation. I was able to open the Display settings, but the rotation selection drop-down won't open and show other orientations, so, stuck on Normal. When I had Display settings window open, it says 'Unknown' on the pinkish rectangle that represents the monitor. Also, I have a small pinkish rectangle now in the upper left corner of the desktop that says 'Unknown' and 'default' underneath. Don't remember having this rectangle on desktop in other LM setups on other computers. I tried doing 'xrandr -o right' in Terminal, but get error messages: X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major Opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR) Minor Opcode of failed request: 2 (RRSetScreenConfig) Serial number of failed request: 14 Current Serial Number in Output Stream: 14 I tried Ubuntu MATE and it does allow me to rotate screen and it sticks (ie, after restarting, logging in, it boots to desktop in landscape orientation). However, I would prefer to use Linux Mint if possible versus. I found a webpage that explains what this guy did to get ArchLinux working right on this laptop, including rotating display. But it is for Arch and I want to get Linux Mint working. But thought it might a helpful reference for someone more advanced in Linux than me. https://www.splitbrain.org/blog/2019...en_wakeup_hack Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mark |
Figured out what was wrong.....
I must have not checked the box for install propriety drivers or 3rd party stuff during install. I did: > sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-* after install, rebooted, and Voila! I was able to rotate display in Display settings! |
Cant Rotate Display on Laptop
They use different components, would each has its own MFG P/N and FRU, right?

Baring that you could manually rotate it with xrandr depending on your GPU.
