Can't install ANY distro other than Ubuntu 7

I'm using a Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2085 which has bee running Mint 7 very well for quite a while until a few days ago when it stopped working (just froze). Since then I've tried to install several distros from CD and Pendrive - list includes Mint 8, Ubuntu 9.1, PC/OS, Slitaz, Puppy, Lubuntu. All run ok from Live CD but none will install. I get an input/output error about 23% of the way in telling me to clean the drive and/or the CD. Even when installing from Pendrive. The only thing I can get to install is Ubuntu 7, which is fine but a bit dated. Any ideas why I can't install anything else people?
Sorry - Mandriva 10 also installed, but I couldn't get wifi working, so that wasn't much use.

Seems to me you have corrupted iso's
check the md5sums

If your computer was running Mint 7 and then suddenly froze, have you considered it may be a hardware problem? All live CD's that run in memory are failing? Maybe you should run memtest just to make sure.

To me it sounds like either a Harddrive or Memory error. Try running some diagnostics software and see if that's the hickey. There's a memtest program on the Ubuntu live CD's

Thanks all. Yes, I did believe it was a hardware error, but memtest was ok. Anyway, I've had Mandriva One running without problems for a while now, so I'll stick with that. Thanks again.
