Wink Can't get full screen size on Sony VAIO TGN-T2XP

Trying to get SUSE 9.2 prof running on a Sony VGN-T2XP laptop running I simply can;t get the 1280 x 768 size screen to work fully. Linux is contained basically in a square (with a black bar on both sides.) - so it is not able to dedect the full screen size. After trying on my own for a few times and after a search,
The notebook has a 82852/82855 GM/GME chipset (taken from windoze Hardwaremanager)
but under suse it is simple Intel 855 chipset
I called suse support and they gave me the following procedure:
1.) Reboot zour computer
2.) as soon the startscreen appears type in the bootoptions 3 (command line login)
3.)As soon the system has booted up log in as root
4.)Type "sax2" in the commandline
5.)As soon sax2 is up press the "Change Configuration" button on the right side below
6.)click the "Monitor" link
7.)Go to Expert Mode
8.)Measure ur screen with a tape measure: I got for the witdh 234 mm and for the height 141 mm
9.)Entering these values in the x (234 mm) and y (141 mm) accordingly
10.)after pressing the finalize button and the Test button the screen goes black and a blue box
appears with everything disabled and with the following message at the bottom (inside the white box with the disabled arrow controls)
No video mode available

So even following the advice I can't change the screen setup. What's wrong here

Please help!

where were you trying this? like did you try and start an xserver? did it start one automatically?
have you installed the system yet? im not really sure where youre trying to accomplish this task

but check these files (assuming youve installed the system already) and edit them to your liking

/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/etc/X11/XF86CONFIG-4

i hope this help and good luck
