Can't for the life of me boot into linux on my new x1 yoga
 

the x1 yoga just came out recently and it's running a skylake cpu.

So I've disabled secure boot and enabled legacy boot. I've tried booting into the vanilla arch iso running kernel 4.3.x and it stalls at something along the lines of "Booting the Kernel" after something along the lines of "Decompressing the Kernel". I've tried booting from antergos live cd which is running a pre 4.3 kernel, but i've started the kernel with i915.preliminary_hw_support=1(i've also tried nomodeset), and it hangs whining about something with xorg. I've tried booting into both ubuntu 15.10 AND alpha versions of 16.04(64 bit versions) and they both hang before anything interesting happens, but long enough into it such that you can tell that it booted from the device. it shows the generic purple ubuntu ncurses screen and then goes to a black screen with a flashing "terminal underscore". i tried ubuntu 15.10 32 bit which also didnt work and now i've tried 32 bit fedora 23 netinstall which says "Failed to find cpu0 device node". I also tried 64 bit live fedora 23 which also hangs before x loads. I've gotten desperate enough that i've gone into bios and disabled anything that says or implies security or that I don't understand and it still won't do anything.

in fact and possibly the most suprising part of all of this is that the only thing that i have been actually able to get into a desktop environment is the most recent version of tails that came out which is based on debian stable so it's running a kernel from back in the 1400's(3.16 they must have done a lot of backporting because it's running at 1080 and seemingly fully accelerated). it's also x386 based. any ideas whats going on?

edit: i've got the intel 6600u with 16 gigs of ram and an nvme drive

edit 2: so i got ubuntu mate 64bit 16.04 alpha 2 to boot by adding the acpi=off flag. i got the installing going but it crashed when it tried to install the bootloader to my nvme. i gotta go to bed but i'm optimistic that i'll be able to get this all sorted out tomorrow. i'll try antergos with acpi disabled and see if i can get gnome 3 up and running on my machine. maybe i'll try installing the bootloader to the microsd card. are there any risks or implications with running with acpi=off? is it terrible for battery? is it going to allow unregulated power to my device that could damage it?

Did you ever get this to work? I'm planning on pulling the trigger on a top-of-the-line X1 Yoga soon, and would like to make Linux (Arch or Mint) as my primary O/S.

Any advice appreciated, but even "yeah I got it to work, do your own research" will do ;-)

yes. i am running fedora right now which replaced ubuntu. both work flawlessly at this point(other than the fact that ubuntu sucks. but that's not my laptop's fault :P). everything from bluetooth to my dock's ethernet port work perfectly. i haven't gone back to trying arch, but it's so bleeding edge that i would be suprised if it didn't work aswell.

i would suggest getting a 1080p screen as opposed the the higher res one since higher res can have problems. I would also suggest avoiding the NVME drive unless you need it. i got it and regret it. it's had all sorts of driver issues, and uefi and booting issues. at this point it seems to be working fine, but for example i tried to install qubes-os and it wouldn't boot correctly. apart from that it's working perfectly.
