calibrate processor thermometer?

the temprerature range changing of course..
is there a way to calibrate the temperature senor so it gives a more accurate temp instead of a 2 degree range? and can it be configured to display in non metric farenheit as well?

the only way i know of getting an acurate cpu temprature is switching from apm to acpi. i instead run "cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THMO/temperature" and it gives me the degrees in celsius of my laptop
