Broadcom Wireless Card BCM94309MP Not working on Fedora 11
Hello all,
I am having some trouble getting my wireless to work on Fedora 11. I just installed it on a Dell D600 laptop and after install it does seem to recognize my wireless card. When I try to connect to my wireless network it doesn't seem to want to connect and the card remains inactive. When I click on the network icon in the upper left to view the available wireless networks, nothing shows as being available. It is an empty list. Anyone have any ideas of how I can troubleshoot this? I don't know anything about troubleshooting wireless connections. Any help would be appreciative. Thanks |
Eh I guess it would have helped if I read the log a little bit more closely. After reviewing the messages log I found the following message:
Jul 23 00:01:01 baggins kernel: b43legacy-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Dr...devicefirmware and download the correct firmware (version 3). Once I installed the right firmware (3.130.20.0) and rebooted, my wireless card started working. iwlist wlan1 scan yeilds: Cell 02 - Address: 00:04:5A:F9:B9:0E ESSID:"lomac" Mode:Master Channel:6 Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6) Quality=76/100 Signal level:-49 dBm Noise level=-68 dBm Encryption key:on IE: Unknown: 00056C6F6D6163 IE: Unknown: 010482840B16 IE: Unknown: 030106 Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s Extra:tsf=00000328f498f68e Extra: Last beacon: 248ms ago |
