Boot Problems RedHat8. What gives?
I'm not a linux guru, and am looking for some help.
Installed Redhat 8 on a new Dell Latitude D505, dual-booting with XP. I have the both OS's loaded, and using Grub for the boot loader. XP boot fine, but I have problems when booting linux. It begins the boot and runs through what I believe are the HW probes/driver loads, but hangs where I believe it is the disk driver.
The last couple lines I see during boot (before hang) are:
PCI_IDE: Note 100% native mode: will probe IRQS later
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xbfa0-oxbfa7, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:pio
ide1: BM-DMA at 0xbfa8-oxbfaf, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio
When I attempt to boot 'linux recovery' it runs through same process, and does infact identify/display the line after where it hangs (noted above) with the following:
hda: ST94811A, ATA Disk Drive
as well as continues the boot process.
I'm hoping to get this resolved within the next day to two, as I really need give my company Thinkpad back.
Any/all help, much appreciated.
