soundgarden LQ Newbie Registered: Feb 2004 Posts: 1 Rep:	boot hangs at firewire controller initializing OK i tried the installation using the "linux nofirewire" command and the installation went by sucessfully. SO i rebooted, and i came up to the GRUB boot screen. I loaded dos(winXP) first to check if it was still intact, and it was so that was good. I rebooted adn this time loaded Red Hat Linux, it started to boot and is goign through the boot process wehn it arrives at "Initiallizing Firewire controller (ohci1394)" It then hangs at that point. I was told to do two things but i dont know how to do either.. 1)Erase IEEE 1394 line in /etc/modules.conf(i dont know where to edit it, how to open the file, or where to open it) 2)Disable the firewire port in Bios(i entered bios and i couldnt see an option. Can someone please help me thank you.
