Thanks for the reply!

The only thing I could find that was like that was /dev/fd2 which was mounted (?) after the 3 disks were done. I'm guessing that is just the rd they chose to use.. And I tried that, but even though it was mounted, I got the error about no device.

I'll mess around with other rd's and things like that too, see if I can't dig something, anything, up.

Ok, I'm a little slow on the uptake.. I just thought of something:
I had Mandrake on there, it was workin fine and all, but I wanted slack or Gentoo. So I dorked the drives and started over. Now I'm realizing I could have just as easily untared the stage(1,2,3) tarball and had Gentoo.. I'll let you all know how this goes tonight, sounds promising..

Wow, even worse luck lately. I seem to be unable to 'dd' an image to boot now. I'm guessing I've jacked up the MBR and now I don't know how to fix it
See if I can hunt me down a DOS/windoze boot floppy to fdisk the MBR.
