boot error


Hi

I am a new user to linux and i was try to use a live cd on my laptop asus a6je
with dual core cpu 2gb ram and 100gb sata hard disk.but with no luck.

1)I try to use live cd backtrack based on slackware but when it boot i get this error:

ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02 isolinux: Disk error 20, AX = 4280, drive EF

PS:It doesn't work also at my old desktop with sata hard disk.

2)I try to use the live cd auditor based on knoppix but when it boot i get this error:

ide0: I/O resource 0x1F7 not free
ide0: ports already in use, skipping probe

PS:It works great the same cd on my old desktop with a sata hard disk also.


Please help me.

Distribution: Switched to regualr Ubuntu, because I don't like KDE4, at all. Looks like vista on crack.....

Sounds like your DVD drive is on a SATA interface. Others have had similar problems. This guy (http://www.sirlab.de/linux/contact.html) might be able to help. (He offers to help on that page.) I found this info here, http://www.sirlab.de/linux/debian_dell_d610.html but it looks like it only addresses an already installed sysem, and a dell with debian at that, but it might help. Have you tried Ubuntu ? They have the best hardware support I've ever seen. You might want to give the fiesty fawn version a go, it's in beta I guess, but for new hardware like yours I would want to latest and greatest, to hope for uptodate drivers for my new hardware.
