Bluetooth problem (no adapter found) with ASUS K73BY laptop

Hi, I'm new at this and apologize before hand if this topic is already solved.

My laptop (as the subject describes) is an ASUS K73BY, with integrated Bluetooth.

I tried to get it work on Ubuntu 13.04 and Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon both 64bit operating systems, but the system doesn't find the adapter.

So i googled it and came to know that enabling the bluetooth on windows and restarting to Linux will fix it. So i installed windows on a spare hard drive i have only to activate it. It worked the first time, but when i removed the windows harddrive an restarted Linux one more time, bluetooth wasn't working anymore, just like before: NO ADAPTER FOUND.

i'm very frustrated.

So, please, anyone who can help, i'll appreciate it.

Thanks.

PD: I'm running both Linuxes from pendrives (separately).

Does it have a hardware switch for turning it off and on?

Some tools to be familiar with for troubleshooting HW issues. lspci , lsmod, dmesg

We need to know what BT hardware it is
What dmesg says about said HW
What module if any it loaded.

Redirect output to txt for easy review and copy. eg lspci > lspci.txt

Also having this problem of finding adapter in Mint Qiana

I'm also having the same issue w/ CE0682 hub & mouse not charging. Other than that, it's all well. But I cant enable BT in Mint Cinnamon even though I've downloaded tools from repository. Nothing seems to enable blueman or Bluez. I did the terminal search you provided above: My output is attached .txt file.

what's the output of
Code:
hcitool scan
.

I never got file transfer with bluetooth trying to link to Apple devices - you need libmobiledevice for that. I never got anywhere without obexftp and the hcitools package. You also need a bluetooth driver. Even then, it was unreliable.

If you have another spare flash drive or can free one, you might want to give Manjaro a try in nonfree mode. Picked my Broadcom adapter up just fine.

I may be missing something, but I am seeing neither a bluetooth adaptor or a wifi card in your lsusb & lspci. According to this link , It should be either an Intel, Azureway, or possibly Atheros wifi with bluetooth buried in there somewhere.

Form what I Can see, yopu haven't a kernel module picking up the unit at all. You may need to identify it first, then find the driver. If you run
Code:
lsusb -v |less
lspci -vn |less
and scan for a wifi or bluetooth device, it might help. Rfkill is a program which may be able to unblock the device and get it started. Use as root. It may take a visit to windows.
