Bluetooth 2.0 USB adapter
Hello!
I've been considering a bluetooth device (since they've dropped to basically free since the last time I was interested) but am totally blown away at the choices. From what I gather, I want a Bluetooth 2.0 device that connects via USB 2.0 (not 1.1 and not Bluetooth 1.2 or 1.1). So I've always found Trendnet to be relatively Linux friendly, but I can't verify that any of their 2.0 USB adapters are truly Linux friendly (though some of their 1.2 ones are). In fact, I really can't find any list of devices that lists any 2.0 devices "Linux friendly" which makes me wonder if they just stopped adding them, or if 2.0 just doesn't have a chip that is friendly at this point. Any hints, links or pointers? I could buy a stick and just "try" being ~$20, it's not like I'd be throwing my money away (my wife's laptop is an XP machine so I could always use it there anyway), but I'd rather have some sort of a "yeah, it'll probably work" from someone before I blow the $20. Specifically, looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156069 And I know this one works (according to some lists): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156144 but it's 1.2 (and connects USB 1.1) not 2.0 like the one above. Thanks! Cool |
I bought this idream USB Bluetooth adapter and it is working exceptionally well under openSuSE 10.2.
Truth be told, I only bought it to be able to connect the Wii remote to my computer, I was influenced by this video. Have a look! |
Sweet video :)
Thanks for the link! I've already purchased the above mentioned stick, I'll report back if it's working and post to the HCL. I really like the idea of a wii remote, I was looking at getting something similar (to do something similar), check out this video: LinuxMCE. Cool |
Yep, works like a champ. I've posted up a little thing on the HCL.
