Black Screen after the boot menu
Hi,
I have a SAMSUNG laptop with INTEL core i3 processor & 4 gb of RAM. I already have WINDOWS 7 installed on my computer. I installed LINUX as a second OS. The installation was successfull. However, when i start my pc through LINUX the screen gets BLACK (backlight switches off) after the boot menu. I can't see my desktop of linux. My windows 7 works perfectly fine. Please help to fix the issue. |
First; which Linux system have you installed?
Second; it is probably an issue with the video driver, but before anything definitive can be stated, information concerning which system you have and which driver your computer has will be needed. |
Thanx 4 showing interest. All i can see is
I have installed Oracle LINUX 5.5 Name : Intel(R) HD Graphics chip type : Intel(R) HD Graphics (Core i3) Manufacturer : Intel Corporation Current Display mode : 1366 X 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Driver Model : WDDM 1.1 It has onboard graphics...no video card installed |
Try to pass 'nomodeset' parameter to kernel...
For example: vmlinuz-generic-3.0.0 root=/dev/sda1 ro nomodeset (string might look like this, remove 'vga' from string if there is). |
