big plans for old old old laptop

I just got a (free! yay!) IBM thinkpad, the specs are 486SX, 4MB RAM (ick), floppy drive only, and a 300+ MB hard drive, with the little joystick mouse in the middle of the keyboard and the clickers down at the bottom. It is already loaded with windows 3.11, which I have no problem with...but I'd like to try linux on this thing too so here is what I want to do...any comments/suggestions?

keep the win 3.11 installed and use fips to split the FAT 12 (not 16 I think) partition and add on a distro called Grey Cat Linux 3.x on it...(anyone ever get this to work on a laptop?) or to download a bunch of slack packages from the old slack ftp sites and install them...which would be better?

Then on top of that I want to add Minix eventually...

Can lilo boot win 3.11, linux, and minix???
