Best Distro for Laptops


In your opinion which distro is the most optimized for laptops

They are all good if configured right. There is no such thing as "the best", use what suits you best. Furthermore, some distros may have excellent support (tailor made kernel, etc) for some range of devices (network cards, sound, graphics chipsets, etc) while another distro may have equally good support for another. I use Debian and I love every minute of it, but that's only me. Others prefer SuSE, MDK, Redhat, Gentoo, whatever...

I have a laptop that is one of the tougher ones for linux. The only flavor not to have a panic when loading is Redhat 9.0. Even then some things don't work without major fiddlin'. The one distro that works best is the live Knoppix 3.3 cd. I have high hopes for the Fedora (Redhat 10?) release shceduled for this Friday. Just get several flavors and play with them. It can be flusterating, but fun at the same time.

My laptop is a HP ze4125.
