best amd64 laptop for linux audio?

Heyo,

I'm really into buying an amd64 laptop, since i know from second hand that ardour+jacks works well in x86_64, and all my 32-bit only needs are very well covered already. Have any of you people had experiences with these setups? if you have got far enough as to trying out some audio hardware into some 64 architectures i would love to hear

ccheers y'all

Ok after a bit of browsing, apparently the gateway 7422G looks nice for me; 2.2Ghz processor, 1Gb ram, linux debian and mandriva runs fine on it, firewire port (i hope to be hooking it with a presonus firebox in a few months, and hopefully the freebob driver will be in a better shape by then), the only downside seems to be a downgrade from the ati 9600 from a previous model to the 9550 ati. Are there any similar options but with a better graphics card? This one is on the market at around 1450US$

f your using an external sound card for high quality play back, check out sagernotebooks.com. in my experience they have the best bang for the buck and are very well built machines. Their ODM is clevo (used by alienware and several other retailers). They have a new AMD64 system in the works that is a monster of a DTR. The current AMD64 offering has had some pretty good reviews, tho the audio isn't the best... People have been successfull in getting Suse, Debian and Slackware running that I know of.
