Beeps during Startup

I'm running slackware 10.0 on my Dell C400 laptop. During startup, it beeps twice and has some message about monitoring pcmcia slots. Is there a way to turn off the beep? Thanks.

I am not 100% sure but I think I read somewhere that that if from your BIOS
and that you can not shut it off (mine beeps too), but that it is a good thing because it means everything is working fine. I tryed too but was satisfied with the explaination and have learned to live with it. I have a Pheonix BIOS if yours is different you may be able to shut it off in your BIOS but, BIOS is at your own RISK!

I think you can turn off the pcmcia beeps in this file:

vi /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia

Just add the line (if it is not there):

PCMCIA_BEEP="no"

(This is working for me, but it is SUSE9.2)
