Battery-Status on a Compaq Evo 1020

Hi

Can anybody tell me what I have to do, that the battery status is working on a compaq evo 1020 ?

I have tried somethings but I'm new to linux and it looks that I'm making something wrong.

I have installed RedHat 9 and I also tried with a new Kernel 2.4.22.

Regards
Marcel

Hi cujo.

You'll probably find that your Compaq notebook has an ACPI BIOS. Red Hat doesn't support ACPI out of the box. Newer notebooks and the brand new notebooks are coming out ACPI instead of APM.

Red Hat supports APM but not ACPI. To get ACPI to work you will need to patch the kernel, and recompile it.

There are many sites and posts telling you how to do this. Believe me I've looked at them all, but have never got it to work.
