Question Battery monitor applet not working always reads 100% on Lubuntu 12.04

Hi, I am new to using Linux. I recently installed Lubuntu 12.04 on my laptop.

There is a batter monitor applet that can be added to the panel. However this app always says 100% battery.

Please tell me how I can fix this

Note: I had to install Lubuntu twice for unrelated reasons and I am fairly sure that it worked on a previous install.

Thank you very much for any help you can give,
It is much appreciated

PS. I like this applet so telling me how I can fix it is preferable to telling me about other battery monitor panel applets I can install
