battery manager help
 

i recently installed suse 9 and am very new to linux so im a little lost in all the posts i've tried to follow to figure this problem out. when i open Klaptop i get this message:

Your computer seems to have a partial ACPI installation. ACPI was probably enabled, but some of the sub-options were not - you need to enable at least 'AC Adaptor' and 'Control Method Battery' and then rebuild your kernel.

can i please have some step by step instructions as to what to do, what to download, how to install the patches, etc. ?

I've finally answered all of my wireless woes in SuSE 9.0, so now it's time to tackle my "Partial ACPI installation." If anyone has gotten past this please post. Thanks!!

I don't know if this will help but I found when klaptop said there was a partial acpi support I would download akpi and the battery monitor would work, it won't say it has ac but the battery monitor is pretty accurate. You can download akpi for SUSE here, then you don't need to recompile your kernel using akpi:

I would also check the file /etc/lilo.conf or wherever the lilo.conf file is and see if there is a line that says append acpi=on
