Battery impossibilities

I have a Compaq Presario R3000. I setup battery monitors in my gentoo partition. When I did this, it broke the power setup on my computer. Both linux and windows report the battery as quickly discharging and then staying around 1%.

A quick glance at /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/info gives this output

present: yes
design capacity: 4400 mAh
last full capacity: 57299 mAh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 14800 mV
design capacity warning: 220 mAh
design capacity low: 132 mAh
capacity granularity 1: 264 mAh
capacity granularity 2: 3780 mAh
model number: Primary
serial number:
battery type: Lion
OEM info: Hewlett-Packard

Which explains the percentage problem: 57299 is greater than 4400.... WTF?

I have tried full charge and discharge cycles to no effect.

This problem didn't start until I loaded acpi support. Does anyone have any ideas?
