Unhappy Battery doesn't keep charge after running BIOS Battery Discharge/Charge Utility

My laptop (L3800) is 15 months old. Battery was only lasting approx. 50 minutes so I ran the DisCharge/Charge BIOS utility (big mistake), now battery only lasts 2 minutes. I have version v1.0 BIOS. Does anyone have a fix?
