badblocks returns zero errors, still not able to install ubuntu on my hard drive

Hi,

I am trying to format and repartition my hard disk using ubuntu 12.04, but to no avail.
Read various posts on multiple forums and tried following with no success :

Error :
libparted : 2.3
======================
Input/output error during write on /dev/sda
Error fsyncing/closing /dev/sda: Input/output error

Badblocks returns zero errors.
dd ran successfully with absolutely no errors.
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M
Disk utility SMART status says : Disk is Healthy.

Not sure, of what's the issue and what can i do to reuse my disk.
P.S : I have backed up all the data and am only concerned about reusing the disk somehow.

Thanks.

Exactly how did you use a command for bad blocks?

Get and use the OEM's diag for that disk and run the long test.

Run memtest for a day too.

In an odd way still could be other parts or cd/dvd.
